Direct Services:
Assist school districts in the education of their students who are deaf or hard-of-hearing by providing:
-- Consultation with IEP team, parents and various staff
-- Assistance in implementing accommodations and modifications
-- Monitoring of students’ academic progress in the classroom
-- In-service for district staff as needed or requested
-- Guidance and participation in the evaluation process
-- A liaison between district and out-of-district placement
-- Direct instruction to the students per the IEP including:
-- Auditory-oral training
-- Assistive Listening Technology
-- Self-advocacy and social-emotional development
-- Transitional needs
-- Sign Language development
-- Academic skill development
-- Language
-- Vocabulary
-- Written language
-- Reading comprehension
-- Communication skills
-- Pre and post teaching of curriculum concept
Consultation:
Includes diagnostics for identified students, consulting with parents, teachers and students, and time spent preparing for direct instruction with students. The amount of consultation is based on the frequency and type of service provided.
